Art Classes
Ages 3-5
“It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” – Picasso
At Little Notes we foster the natural creative genius in our students by encouraging freedom of expression. We believe children flourish when given the opportunity and tools to express their unique perspective.
We provide a joyful environment to create process art, which is all about exploratory art making, with guidance on technique along the way. By allowing our students to lead their artistic endeavors, we foster cognitive development and problem-solving skills. We encourage students to discuss their creations and feel successful in their hard work.
Little Notes art classes include fun, age appropriate projects in which students are guided in art theory concepts such as background and foreground, negative space, color saturation, true primary colors (cyan, magenta, and yellow), how to mix custom colors, how to use texture and three dimentionality, and how to tell their stories. Our instructor brings along artist books and pictures of multicultural art giving students an early introduction to art history and appreciation.
Art is vital to early childhood development and fosters sense of self, fine motor skills, language communication, confidence, as well as early math and science learning through experimentation and multi-step projects.
